About Breathwork
Breathwork is an experiential method of self-exploration and psychospiritual healing that induces deep, non-ordinary, “holotropic” (moving toward wholeness) states of consciousness using conscious connected breathing, carefully curated music, and, when called for, special bodywork that helps to release bioenergetic and emotional blocks. It draws on elements from modern consciousness research, depth psychology, transpersonal psychology, Eastern spiritual philosophies, and native healing practices to utilize the extraordinary healing power of holotropic states.
“The therapeutic benefits of holotropic breathwork are remarkable. The healing of illness, anxiety, depression and conflict, the release and healing of trauma and abuse, the reintegration with family and community, the opening of compassion, forgiveness, courage and love, the reclaiming of purpose, the finding of our lost soul and the highest insights of spiritual understanding all come spontaneously from the unfolding of this powerful process.” – Jack Kornfeld
Breathwork provides access to many domains of the unconscious and opens psychospiritual pathways to healing and spiritual evolution. The process of self-exploration in holotropic states of consciousness is spontaneous and autonomous and is governed by the inner healing intelligence that resides in each of us.
About the Retreat
The retreat will begin Thursday evening, January 7th with dinner and an opening circle. Over the next two days, you will experience four holotropic breathwork sessions, two as a breather and two as a sitter. Participants work in dyads. Each day, one of you will serve as a sitter and one as a breather in the morning session, and you will switch places in the afternoon. (No special training is required to be a sitter). Following your breathwork sessions, you will be invited to capture the essence of your experience by creating a mandala. We will end each day dinner followed by a sharing circle. The retreat will end with a closing circle on Sunday morning.
Participation in this retreat counts toward the requirements of anyone pursuing training and certification with Grof® Legacy Training.
